Welcome,

where he holds a weekly Sunday evening service in Spanish and manages the
parish food bank.
A native Washingtonian, Fr. Don hails from
Castle Rock. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Oregon
State University
and received a Masters of Divinity in 1964 from General Seminary of New York. He
served two years as an Associate Priest in an Anglican parish in Lincoln, England in the late 1960’s.

part of our practice consists of warm-up stretches and movement, followed
by practice of dance as part of the worship service. So whether you would just like to come
and get some joyful exercise, or would like to be part of the service, we
would love to have you join us. No
dance experience is necessary, only the desire to connect mind, body and
sprit with joy. All ages from 10
to 100 are welcome. Contact Georgann, 360-779-5788 with any questions.
Education for Ministry: Tia Hudson is
offering to be a mentor for a new EFM group at St. Paul 's. Contact her
at thudson56@gmail.com if you want to know how to enroll. Offered for
years in Episcopal parishes all over the country by University of the
South in Sewanee, TN, EFM is a four year academic
program that introduces you to state of the art theological study in Old
and New Testament Studies, Church History and Theology. It also creates
community among the learners, who meet a couple of hours a week for 9
months, for each of the 4 years of the program. Tia
is taking names now and wants to start EFM by late September or early
October. There is a modest tuition fee, but St. Paul's will provide matching funds
so that any member who feels called to participate in EFM may do so.
The Fourth Weekend of the month is St. Paul's weekend for Diner Service:
We're always taking names of people interested in helping out in the
Lord's Neighborhood Diner on the 3rd Saturday or Sunday afternoon of each
month, usually from about 3:00-5:00, downstairs in the Hall. Look for the
black clipboard that Randy will pass around or leave on the nave table.
The United Way:
Support your community by giving to the United Way campaign. You may also
designate St. Paul’s
Church as a recipient of your gift.
Altar Flower Memorials and Thanksgivings: If you wish to donate an
Altar Flower Memorial, please complete one of the forms in the container
on the Nave wall next to Randy's office and either mail
it to St. Paul's
or place it in the offering plate at least two weeks prior to your
desired date. The suggested donation is $25 and up. The amount of monies
donated determines the size and type of flowers used. Requests for
special colors/flowers will be honored depending on cost and
availability. A member of the Flower Guild will purchase and arrange your
flowers. You may of course supply your own flowers to be arranged by us,
or you may also use your own florist. Please telephone Fred Speaks for
questions or assistance.
Sanctuary Lamp Memorial: If you wish to give a Sanctuary Lamp
memorial or thanksgiving, please complete the form found on the wall rack
just inside the door to the Nave, and mail it with your check for $5 or
more (payable to St. Paul's Altar Guild) in care of St. Paul's Episcopal
Church, or drop your envelope in the collection plate. Please make sure
that we have your contribution with the date you desire, a minimum of two
weeks before the requested Sunday. Someone from the Altar Guild will
contact you.

The Rev. Dr. Judith McDaniel's essay on the biblical basis for
supporting same sex unions, written for the Trustees of Virginia
Theological Seminary in 1996, is available here. Judith was
our Preacher in Residence from June 2004 through August 2005, and is now back to teaching homiletics at the seminary in Alexandria.
We used biblical theologian Walter Wink's essay Homosexuality and the
Bible as a resource for our recent focus group's on this topic. It is
free on the Internet: http://www.bridges-across.org/ba/winkhombib.htm.
